DATE 23rd Mar 2003
OPPOSITION Shadwell Rovers
GROUND Away

Luckily we got to ground quite early, as the pitch we were playing on had been doubled booked by the council. The firsts were due to play on the same pitches at Muller Rd too – but due to the double booking they swapped to our home pitch. We had people playing in different positions today as we only had 10 men.
Mike Wilcox was going to be in goal, but instead played up front as a lone striker and Rich Scott played in between Mike and the midfield and Stu Gardiner found himself on the left wing. As the pitch we were playing on had been double booked the team waiting, stayed on the sidelines and watched us. The ref decided we’d only play 35min each half game, so the other team could get to play sooner rather than later.

We played well and the 4-1 score line is slightly flattering, as at half time we were only 1-0 down. In the seconded half Ollie Carter who was playing at the back with Matt Scott went up for a corner and managed to head the ball home. Shadwell’s 2nd goal looked as it was a cross from the wing, but it ended up in the back of our net – the keeper had no chance with it. Shadwell’s last two goal’s came in the last 5 min’s of the game. We didn’t have that many chances, but we all played well, with the man of the match votes being shared between players, but with the goal Ollie scored he just piped the MOM vote for today’s game.
