- Monday 19th Sep. – Sunday 25th Sep.
- Appointment 9:55. We
got there about 10am, quite surprised I managed to fit in Neil’s little Nova,
length ways on the back seat. Getting
in and out of cars is difficult.
- We waited about an hour, lots of people in the fracture
Dept waiting to be seen. Think the
am appointment are for all the people who were in A&E the night before.
- I got called into see the Dr. Neil came in with me, he
looks at the swelling and says – as they tried to drain it last night without
any luck, rather then sticking me with another needle again today, we’ll just
put a splint on and see me next week. We
went back out into the waiting area. About
10-20 mins later was called again, think time to have the splint on and a new
dressing and bandage.
- I was told to keep the Velcro splint on for the first day
or so and keep it on over night, but try and move my knee after a few days.
- So I was off back home again.
- It was either Wed or Thur when I first took off the splint
and bandages, knee was still massive, but had gone down in size, my leg was
black with bruising all under the inside of the leg.
-
- Baz came around Fri and I took everything off to show him
and the swelling had gone down again – but even Baz said it was impressive!
-
-
- As I’m quite a big guy, 6” 3¾ and about 15½ stone
getting around on crutches takes a lot out of me.
I need to rest if I go up or down stairs – even taking the splint /
bandages on/off tires me out as I have to lift up with my arms my left dead
weight leg.
- I was hopping to go and watch the beach play on sat but I
really felt bad on sat and late on Fri it was like my leg had got worse.
I was having trouble walking on the crutches.
I was having to move my left leg with my right crutch – that I didn’t
like.
-
- Needless to say I didn’t watch football, the pain might
have been because I wasn’t taking the pain killers every 4 hours and only when
I needed to, or because my leg was getting better and I was getting feeling back
in it.
-
- Monday was only a
few days away.
- I didn’t have
any idea what
- the diagnosis
would be
-
-
Didn’t sleep great on Sunday night, but saying that
it was the earliest I had been to bed all week and I had a good meal inside of
me as I’d gone down to Steve’s and Sarah’s for Sunday dinner.
Have to say – Neil’s been great, booked the Monday off so he could go
to hospital with me, made me a flask every day in the morning when he went to
work, so I would have a drink in the sitting room.
