Tuesday 27^th Sep.

Saw lady Dr. about 7am

She felt knee/leg said rupture of tibia mussel and couldn’t find anything below the knee.

 

Another Dr. came in at 9am, looked over leg, said will need OP.  No need for scan will have to cut down front of knee repair and stitch up – I’ll be asleep for that, leg will be in plaster for about 8weeks then up to 1 month strengthening it.

Said OP could be today late on, or tomorrow as depends on how busy theatre is.

 

Now I’m worried, having OP today or tomorrow, I keep drifting off to sleep, just for 10-20mins at a time.  About 10:30 decide I should get up and have a wash.  About 11am my rooms needed, so I get moved into a ward with 6 beds in.  I’m the youngest, the guy opposite me I would say was mid 40’s – mid 50’s.  The other 4 gents are much older, don’t know what the time is now, as the clock says 5pm.

 

Neil and Claire came in on their lunch to see me, Neil looks almost as worried as I feel!  We just have light banter chat.  They go back to work and I continue to pass out and wake up, the ward’s lights go out.  Think that was for everyone to have an afternoon nap!

 

I heard some nurses talking saying how one of the patients had been nil by mouth since they came on their shift but he hadn’t gone anywhere and he was due for a scan and repair.  I interrupt asking if they were talking about me – they were.

I said how I’d seen some consultants at 7 and 9 and how they had decided I needed the OP and not the scan.

The nurses said that wasn’t in my notes and they had in the last half an hour rang theatre and I was still down on the list, theatre is 24hours, but apparently there had been 3 helicopters into A&E today.  The time was 2:45 I pointed out the clock didn’t work.

 

Found out at 4pm that I won’t be having the OP today.  So I can now eat! Well until midnight.

 

Well at least now I can watch the Man U game tonight!

 

Mum and Nigel come in about 4:30 and Neil and Claire about 5, had tea – not that great. Then 7:30 went to the day room to watch the game – Mum and Nigel then left.  Really surprised I was the only person watching the game.  Andy, Steve and Helen then arrive, putting the number of visitors I had today up to 7!  They had to leave at 8:45 – 15mins after they should have.  I stayed watching TV till 10:30, went back to bed and chatted to they guy opposite for a while.

 

Didn’t get much sleep, think 2 people snoring, 1 person kept talking in his sleep, think he kept saying ‘Oh No’

 

Had a banana at 11pm.
