- Wednesday 28th Sep.
- Lights on 7am & more drugs taken.
- 8:10 nurse says I’ll need to be in the OP gown from 9am,
as that’s from when I can be called. Have
a wash.
-
- Then just laid on my bed, waiting.
-
- Talked football with male nurse Carl and patient John.
-
- The nice nurse, who’d I spoken to a bit yesterday and
today was new to Frenchay and she said she’d go down the theatre with me and
the porter, as she didn’t know where theatre was.
We’re now next to the theatre and I’m getting hooked up to all the
monitoring machines, the nurse can see I’m nervous and asked me questions to
try and take my mind off things, like, had I ever had an OP before, and how I
injured myself.
-
- 2:50pm, back from OP.
Strange, not in a cast from the notes it says, no rupture, blood clot removed. Will know more when Dr.’s
come round.
-
- Later on I ask to have the notes read again.
- Large blood clot removed and knee washed out extensively.
-
- So all I have on my leg, I think is a bandaged and a drop,
I have something coming out of my hand, which I think is for if I take a turn
for the worst, they can inject me straight into my hand.
-
- Not really in any pain, but still taking regular
painkillers. Not that comfortable,
as have this drip / drain coming out of the bandage, can’t move my let too
much. The drip has to stay in for
24hrs and I’ve been told to stay in bed.
-
- Don’t know how I feel.
-
- Monday – all worried about what the outcome will be –
never thought they would have said operation
-
- Wednesday – ready for OP – very very nervous you could
tell in my voice when I was talking to the pre OP team. Woke from OP, not in as much pain as I was expecting also not
in plaster, relived when told what happened.
-
- Will know more when see Dr. / team on Thursday.
-
-
Still can’t lift leg up off the bed, but can bend the
knee slightly.
