- The Tour 2001
Great Yarmouth
Saturday
Game 1
With everyone hanging from the journey down & all the beers on
Friday, this was to be first of 3 losses for us
We lost 3-1, Dave got a Yellow card.
Game 2
Rob wasn't happy with the first game. It wasnt the start he
wanted to crisen the new kit with. He made us have a training session before this game,
but didn't help. We lost again 3-1. Nick came off injured after scoring, this was going to
be Derricks and Daren's last game to through injury.
Game 3
With the team quickly depleting, we were to loss this game too. 6-0.
We were out of the 'CUP' but went into the 'PLATE' competition.
Which is a knockout type competition.
Sunday
Game 1
The game ended up 0-0 at full time, so we went to 5 minutes each way
extra time.
They got a pen in the 2nd half, Rob deemed to foul in the
box - they scored past Nick. From the resulting centre we scored ~ Paul-s spanked the ball
from the centre circle, their keeper miss timed his jump & grabbed at the ball, he
cough then dropped it, in to the net.
The game ended up 1-1, so time for penalty.
Neil replaced Nick in goal and saved the first pen, which set us on
our way.
Game 2
We were to play the team we lost to in game 2 Saturday. We were all
on a high - what with just winning the last game on penalties. We knew to watch our for
their 'diver' number7 from yesterdays game. We took the lead, Paul-s ran through their
defence on to a ball from Neil, Paul went wide to make the angle and scored. We didn't
score again until late in the 2nd half, a goal mouth scramble with Matt
scoring. They didn't score, we won 2-0
Mark Yellow card.
Game 3 & the Final.
As with all finals the game was fast passed, end to end stuff, with a
trophy up for grabs. They took the lead half way through the 1st half, and that
was how the score line was to remain. We didn't really have many chances, everyone was
hanging. Paul-s had a shot which went wide and Mike had a volley which he skied.
We ended up runners up.
Man of the tour, which was voted by the 15 players: Neil.
